LADY JUSTICE has been symbolized as a blindfolded lady holding a weighing scale. This is supposed to show that Justice takes no sides nor dispenses favors. Neither is it denied to anyone nor delayed for Justice knows no father nor mother; it looks at truth alone. How? When it is blindfolded? To hide its eyes which are really blind?
***
I do not know why man was not used as the model for Mr. Justice. Perhaps, wearing dark glasses and holding a bottle of wine? Or simply with open hands as if waiting to receive something?
***
Despite best efforts, the dispensation of justice is slow. Because Lady Justice being blind folded cannot see. So, she has to walk slowly, otherwise, she will trip and fall or grope something hazardous.

With the unbelievable volume of drug cases, the dockets of the courts are doubly clogged. Judges, Prosecutors and court personnel are overworked and under-manned/womanned. They lack additional salas to handle the cases.
It is not unusual to have 20 or 30 even more cases set for hearing in a single day. By the time, your case is called, your client has died.
***
You hear quite loudly in the streets the poor grumbling that they do not get a fair measure of justice; whereas, the rich man gets it. That Justice has two faces; one, for the poor and one, for the rich. Hmmm, what can I say?
Both the poor and rich have problems. One, where to get money; the other…how to prevent one from getting it.
***
This disparity of rich man-poor man Justice is a reality we must learn to accept and live with. Every practicing lawyer has a very destitute client who comes to the law office with a cause of action to file in court. The case entails serious study, time and presence in court. The client can hardly feed himself much more your Acceptance Fee; Appearance Fee; the Filing Fees and allied expenses in the course of trial.
O, Lady Justice, what to do? The lawyer must also eat and…drink. So, meritorious causes of action are lost and prescribe…because the client has no money to pursue it legally. This, sadly, is why Justice does not work for the poor man.
***
Don’t disparage the rich man. His station in life affords him the fullness of Justice; the best lawyer only money can buy; a friendly Stenographer; Clerk of Court; Sheriff; and a friendlier Judge.

Two lawyers, one pock-marked, the other, cross-eyed, were debating and getting personal before the Judge.
ACNE LAWYER: Your Honor, compañero and I do not see eye to eye!
LIBAT LAWYER: That argument, Judge, is full of holes!
ACNE LAWYER: Your Honor, you cannot trust the word of this double-vision crook whose eyes are fighting each other!
LIBAT LAWYER: Judge, the malice of this shyster is apparent on his face that launched a thousand shrieks!
JUDGE: Gentlemen, now, that you have introduced yourselves, let us proceed. (muzones_law_office@yahoo.com/PN)
