FOR many years, the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry has been placed at the forefront of the economic development of the Philippines and is still considered to be one of the fastest-growing industries in the country.
During the early part of the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of people lost their jobs. Some people shifted their career paths, some focused on freelancing, most of the students decided to work than study and some even chose to work in BPO industries. But who else is to blame? When most establishments, companies, and other sectors were closed due to the pandemic, the BPO industry was one of the sectors that continued operating under quarantine measures.
Despite the challenges of restrictions, the BPO industry continues its operations with firms even hiring for new job openings and endless career opportunities for Filipinos. While there may be challenges and disruptions in operations, the BPO industry still sees a silver lining that will bring hope to the Filipinos. This indicates that while there may be constraints and limitations, the industry is still in high demand, and is constantly providing opportunities for those who are looking to begin a new career.
In fact, according to a study administered by Oxford Business Group, the BPO sector has evolved extensively and it is deemed to be one of the “two pillars” of the country’s economy.
Undoubtedly, the BPO industry continues to move onward and will continue to provide endless opportunities for Filipinos. For some, it may be the end of their career, but for others, this may also be the start of their new beginnings.
