BACOLOD City – A theft suspect was arrested in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
In a comical turn of events, the 26-year-old Ariel Baring of Sitio Ibwal, Barangay Punao, San Carlos City, got trapped in the business establishment he allegedly targeted.
According to the San Carlos City police, at around 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, the cashier, security guard, and sales boy of JHT Department Store opened the store and they discovered Baring inside.
The security guard immediately nabbed the suspect while the other employees contacted police.
San Carlos City police recovered a vault cutter from the suspect and several electronic gadgets.
Initial investigation showed Baring was able to break into the establishment on Monday night. But when he tried to leave with his loot, he was unable to destroy the door locks.
Police said Baring admitted to the robbery, adding that he was planning to exchange his loot for illegal drugs.
The suspect was detained at the San Carlos City Police Station, facing robbery charges. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
