BACOLOD City – About 21,000 people attended the 46th Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) of the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) on Sunday.
The AGMA was held in two separate venues – Manapla town and Escalante City in Negros Occidental – on the same day.
Among those who attended the event were Department and Energy secretary Alfonso Cusi, National Electrification Administration (NEA) head Edgardo Masongsong, Rep. Carlos Roman Uybarreta (1-CARE party-list), and Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Negros Occidental, 3rd District).
In his speech, Cusi commended Noneco for being one of the “vital pilot rural electrification projects in the Philippines.”
He added that Noneco is dedicated in delivering public service to communities and businesses it covers.
Noneco supplies power to the cities of San Carlos, Escalante, Sagay, Cadiz, and Victorias and towns of Calatrava, Toboso, Manapla, and E.B. Magalona.]
Noneco’s AGMA this year is themed “Keeping Abreast with Industry Demands towards Service Excellence and Sustainability.”
According to Cusi, the theme “embodies the targeted goal of 100 percent electrification in all the barangays in the area of Noneco.”
Noneco was classified as a “green” electric cooperative after it got an AAA rating from NEA.
NEA gave Noneco the AAA rating based on the electric cooperative’s December 2017 financial and operational performance.
Masongsong said such rating entails that an electric cooperative has a 95 percent or higher collection efficiency, a system loss not exceeding the 13-percent cap and a positive profitability, among others.
Noneco is the only electric cooperative in Negros Island with an AAA rating./PN
