Thousands travel to PH ports on Good Friday

THOUSANDS of Filipinos flocked to Philippine ports on Good Friday, April 18, as they travelled to their respective provinces during the Holy Week break.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said 10,150 passengers left and 10,800 arrived in different ports nationwide.

The PCG also said its 4,760 personnel inspected 153 vessels and 56 motorbancas around the country.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police deployed 68,465 cops nationwide to ensure the safety of Filipinos this Holy Week.

The PNP said 19,120 of these were assigned to places of worship, 18,283 to major roads, 8,711 to transportation hubs and terminals, 10,125 to commercial areas, and 12,226 to tourist spots.

PNP chief General Rommel Marbil said the police stand ready to protect Filipinos, as he called on the public to remain vigilant against potential crime and other untoward incidents. (ABS-CBN News)
