SAN JOSE, Antique – Swimming sensation Kyla Ong Soguilon tallied three golds in the swimming event finals of the 2017 Palarong Pambansa on Wednesday.

The 12-year-old Soguilon – from Sun Yat Sen School in Kalibo, Aklan – outclassed Jindsy Azze Dasion of Northern Mindanao for the gold in the girl’s 12 and under  50-meter butterfly in 31.21 seconds. Dasion clocked 31.56 seconds to settle for a silver medal.

National Capital Region swimmer Hannah Drelyn Sanchez grabbed the bronze in 31.61 seconds.

Soguilon, a three-time Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Junior Athlete of the Year awardee, also topped the 100-meter backstroke event with a time of 1:12.14, outdueling Natalie Mendoza of Mimaropa (1:14.34) and Richelle Melencio of NCR who timed in 1:15.00.

She also anchored the 200-meter medley relay with Jade Lyxynn Ladrillo, Marie Joe Borres and Gabrille Barlin for the gold in 2:15.70. Mimaropa swimmers grabbed silver in 2:17.41 and NCR in 2:19.06 for the bronze.

Last year, Soguilon won four gold medals and two silver medals and was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer and Most Bemedalled Athlete of the 2016 Palarong Pambansa in Legaspi, Albay./PN
