BACOLOD – Bacolod Tay Tung High School women’s volleyball team manager Jose Montalbo is proud of his four graduating players who are set to showcase their talents in big collegiate schools in Manila.
Thunderbolts middle blocker Joan Marie Monares will be representing the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons while Erika Deloria, Shane Carmona and Rhean Almendralejo will don the colors of the Enderun College Lady Titans.
The five-foot-ten Monares will become the third Tay Tung volleybelle to suit up for the Godfrey Okumu-mentored Fighting Maroons aside from Ilongga setter Marianne Sotomil and libero Jeanny Padilla.
Deloria, Carmona and Almendralejo, on the other hand, were placed under the radar of the Lady Titans following the impressive showing of the three during the 2019 Rebisco Volleyball League National Finals.
“After I invested so much for this sport, I am grateful for how these girls are going to the next level of their careers. I’m so happy and excited that our student-athletes who graduated are now recognized in Manila,” said Montalbo, head JGM Dreams Foundation.
The success of his four players along with Sotomil and Padilla fuels him to continue his advocacy further.
“We will never stop the grassroots program in our school,” Montalbo said. “The JGM Dreams Foundation has almost 50 volleyball scholars this year.”/PN
