Tigbauan fire displaces 13 families

ILOILO – At least 44 individuals or 13 families were displaced when a fire broke out around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, in Barangay Tan Pael, Tigbauan town.

According to the town’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), 10 carinderias were totally destroyed and three houses were partially damaged.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Revy Dacullo, deputy fire marshal of BFP Tigbauan, said the fire originated from the carinderia that also served as the house of Vicente Diaz. The fire quickly spread to neighboring carinderias and houses, all made of light materials.

 A “fire out” was declared around 5 a.m.

The affected families were temporarily taking shelter at the barangay gymnasium.

BFP Tigbauan pegged the damage at around P184,000. They were still investigating the cause of the blaze as of this writing./PN
