ILOILO City – In the run-up to Valentine’s Day, the city government’s Task Force on Morals and Values Formation (TFMVF) is tightly monitoring motels, lodging houses and inns.
The goal is to ensure their compliance to anti-coronavirus protocols and existing city regulations such as shunning minors, according to TFMVF head Nestor Canong.
“Gin–istorya ko isa-isa ang mga tag-iya kag managers para aware sila sang mga dapat kag indi dapat tumanon,” said Canong.
Among others, Canong said, they checked if establishments here have certifications or licenses to operate and if their safety health protocols are in place.
Aside from inns and pension houses, there are around 17 lodging houses operating in the city – 11 are in Arevalo, three in La Paz, two in Molo, and one in Mandurriao.
Ordinance No. 2015-447 targets sex predators by regulating the operation of lodging houses, pension houses, inns, hotels, motels, apartelles, and similar establishments.
Establishments accepting minor clients risk being penalized.
Under Section 11 of Ordinance 2015-447, a violator shall be meted with a fine of P5,000, imprisonment of one year and possible cancellation of business permit, as determined by the Office of the Mayor.
“Dapat hugton gid kay iban ginapalusot sang partner or boyfriend nila nga dal-on sa mga lodging houses,” Canong stressed./PN
