ILOILO City – Police officers in Western Visayas who post TikTok videos while wearing their uniforms could face administrative charges, according to Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) director Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky.
Wanky reiterated the strict prohibition against using the Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform in unauthorized TikTok activities or any content that exploits the organization’s image for personal gain.
“Police officers may use TikTok only if it is part of an authorized PNP activity or a sanctioned initiative related to law enforcement. However, for personal purposes, wearing police uniform in such content is strictly prohibited,” Wanky said.
The directive aligns with the national PNP headquarters’ policy to uphold the integrity and professionalism of the police force. Officers found violating this rule may face administrative sanctions, which could tarnish their service records.
Wanky reminded all personnel under the PRO-6 to act responsibly, especially on social media platforms, to maintain the dignity and public trust associated with the police uniform.
This warning follows incidents where police officers nationwide have been criticized for uploading TikTok videos that some deemed unprofessional or inappropriate.
The PNP aims to preserve its credibility by enforcing these policies and ensuring that its members adhere to ethical standards.
Wanky also encouraged the public to report any inappropriate use of the police uniform on social media, stressing that accountability is key to sustaining a respectable and disciplined police force./PN
