TikTok video challenge aims to keep Antiqueños at home

ILOILO City – Attention, all Antiqueños. Bored at home while on quarantine?

Join the #StayAtHomeAntique TikTtok Challenge of the provincial government of Antique.

This video challenge aims to keep Antiqueños, most especially the young, at home and follow the ongoing enhanced community quarantine against the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), said Gov. Rhodora Cadiao.

TikTok is a video-sharing social networking mobile application. One of the most popular in the world, it allows users to create short videos of themselves which often feature music in the background, can be sped up, slowed down or edited with a filter.

To create a music video with the app, users can choose background music from a wide variety of music genres, edit with a filter and record a 15-second video with speed adjustments before uploading it to share with others on TikTok or other social platforms. Users can also film short lip-sync videos to popular songs.

Because TikTok is “trending”, Cadiao said, the Antique Provincial Tourism Office thought of tapping it for a novel scheme to make Antiqueños observe home quarantine without getting bored.

“Ang mga youth ngayon masyadong impatient at minsan naniniwala sa fake news kaya sabi ko mag-join na lang sila sa TikTok video challenge,” Cadiao told Panay News.

These are the rules:

* The challenge is open to all Antiqueños everywhere.

* At least three or more household members should participate in the video.

* The video must be shot in any area of the house or where the participants stay (indoor, garage or garden, etc.), not in public places like streets and other public areas.

* Use the hashtag #StayAtHomeAntique and upload to your Facebook account.

The first placer will win P3,000; second placer, P2,000; and third placer, P1,000.

Twenty other top entries would be receiving P1,000 each.

Prizes must be claimed in San Jose, Antique only.

The criteria: funny, creative and unique.

The Antique Provincial Tourism Office is the judge.

Judging and awarding is on March 31.

Cadiao urged Antiqueños to be more patient with the ongoing quarantine.

Antique has around 4,000 persons under monitoring (PUMs) and 35 persons under investigation (PUIs) for COVID-19.

The quarantine will end on March 31./PN
