OVERWHELMING crowds welcomed Catriona Gray, who sported a tireless smile while waving from her float during her grand homecoming parade around Metro Manila on Thursday afternoon.
Wearing a Mak Tumang-designed terno jumpsuit adorned with designs of sampaguita and anahaw, Gray matched her patriotic outfit with the famous Mikimoto crown.
Her motorcade traversed the stretch of Roxas Boulevard and Taft Avenue heading to Ayala Avenue where huge crowds showed up to catch a glimpse of the beauty queen.
Like Gray, the people who flocked to the streets were also all smiles, taking videos and photos of the reigning Miss Universe.
At one point of the parade, Gray was dancing to the festive music as she was showered with confetti while her supporters cheered her on.
But one of the parade’s highlights was when Gray raised the Philippine flag, showing off how proud she is to be representing the country.
Earlier, Gray said it brings her so much pride and honor to be able to bring so much joy to Filipinos.
“It is always giving back to the community and to the country as a whole that anchored me throughout this whole process and it is something I have drawn strength from every step of the way,” she said.
Gray said this homecoming is a special and emotional moment for her because “when I see their support, when I see their passion, it makes me cry because I feel like a simple girl but here I am bringing joy to people’s lives.” (ABS-CBN News)
