ILOILO – To improve and make their services more effective, the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members of the Municipality of Pavia recently conducted a benchmarking activity in the province of Aklan, particularly in the local government unit (LGU) of Kalibo and the province’s Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP).
Led by Pavia’s Vice Mayor Edsel G. Gerochi, the SB members, key officers and employees of the Office of the SB, Municipal Human Resource Management Office, Municipal Planning and Development Office, and the Office of the Municipal Mayor first visited the Kalibo LGU.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Mayor Juris Sucro and Vice Mayor Cynthia Cerrada Dela Cruz.
During the visit, both LGUs shared their respective best practices and innovations.
The delegation then went to the Aklan SP session hall. They were welcomed by Vice Gov. Reynaldo M. Quimpo and Provincial Board members.
Acting secretary to the Sanggunian, Merlyn A. Montaño, gave an orientation to the delegation on the protocols of the SP officials and staff during SP sessions.
It was followed by a tour – headed by Montaño and the SP Information Unit as hosts – of the different offices and conference rooms of the Aklan SP building, including the administrative and legislative offices and records rooms.
The delegation was also brought to the library/archives. They were briefed on the best practices and innovations, particularly in the filing, retrieving and maintaining records for the SP.
Local products displayed and incorporated into the SP building’s interiors such as piña and abaca cloth curtains were also showcased.
After the tour, Montaño led the group to the East and West Conference Rooms, where they were shown the winning entries of the province of Aklan for the 2022 Excellence in Local Governance Awards.
At the end of the presentation, SP member Roly O. Equiña, Jr. thanked the SB members of Pavia for considering the province of Aklan as site for their benchmarking activity.
Vice Mayor Gerochi and the Pavia SB members also expressed gratitude to the Aklan SP for accommodating them./PN
