TONY Labrusca took to social media to defend himself against those who quickly judged him after admitting on “Tonight with Boy Abunda” that he used to steal some clothes and food when he was still living in Canada.
During his appearance on the show, Labrusca confessed to host Boy Abunda that he did such things because “at that point in my life, I felt my parents couldn’t give me enough for me to survive through the week.”
Labrusca thought that the only way he was going to eat then was if he would steal.
“Actually Tito Boy, hindi lang sa convenience store. Kung dati kailangan ko ng damit, magnanakaw din ako sa store. Kung kailangan ko ng pagkain… lahat ng feeling kong puwede kong nakawin, ninanakaw ko. I don’t want to encourage you guys to do this because it’s wrong,” he said.
Labrusca also related that there was a time that he stole two bags because the first one that he took wasn’t the color that he liked.
Responding to those who were quick to judge him based on his admissions, the actor posted a series of tweets saying he only shared his flaws “because I’m sharing my humanity with you.”
“It’s human to make mistakes and those mistakes teach you very valuable lessons. TRUST me I’ve experienced that first hand,” he said.
“I admitted to Tito Boy that I used to steal FOOD and CLOTHES I could not AFFORD. I never said it was right nor am I proud of it,” he added.
Labrusca also reiterated the promise he made on the show that he would return to the stores from which he stole to pay them back.
“I did make light of the situation and if you were there you would know I PROMISED Tito I would pay back the places I took from because I can now afford them,” he said.
To end his post, Labrusca said: “NO ONE is perfect. So stop acting like it. We all make mistakes. Your mistakes aren’t what define you as a person, it’s the effort you put into changing for the better every day.”
