ILOILO City – Vice President Leni Robredo becoming president will be good for the city and province of Iloilo, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas and Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
“Sang nagbulig kita sang una kay President (Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo) kag President (Benigno) Aquino, kadamo gid sang programa kag proyekto nga gindala sa aton syudad kag probinsya,” said Treñas.
He cited as examples the circumferential road, Iloilo Airport, Iloilo Floodway, and radial roads.
“Ini nagpadasig sang development, naghatag sang madamo nga trabaho diri sa aton sa syudad kag sa probinsya,” Treñas said during yesterday’s virtual press conference after Iloilo’s kick-off of Robredo’s national campaign dubbed “Kulay Rosas ang Bukas.”
The campaign color of Robredo is pink.
The city mayor is confident that Iloilo City will not be forgotten under a Robredo presidency.
“Padayon ang mga program kag proyekto. Ang mga handom naton diri matigayon ta gid para sa aton mga pumolyo parehas man siguro sang tiempo ni President GMA kag PNoy. Tayuyon ang development diri sa aton,” Treñas added.
Governor Defensor , who openly supports Robredo, too, said: “I am confident nga indi kita dira maulihi.”
The Vice President, he said, has consistently included Iloilo in her office’s programs these past six years.
“Waay lang ni guro nabal-an sang mga Ilonggo, VP Leni was always here. She was here silently and working for the Ilonggos. So I think bentaha ang presidency ni VP Leni para sa aton,” said Defensor.
But not only for Iloilo, he stressed.
“I am confident nga sa presidency ni VP Leni who is an economist and lawyer, mauna gid ang mga fundamentals nga kinanglan sang mga Filipino parehas sang food security…Wala na sang mas importante sa aton sang sa kan-on kag sud-an nga ara sa lamesa naton,” said Defensor.
“Let me repeat, VP Leni will provide the correct direction for this country and food security will be a priority,” he added./PN
