ILOILO City – Western Visayas police captured the region’s most wanted person along with the third most wanted individual from Antique province in two separate but coordinated operations conducted yesterday.

The regional most wanted, identified by the alias “Dagul”, was a 22-year-old from Barangay Sinundolan, San Remigio, Antique. He was apprehended at approximately 2:27 p.m. in District I, Sibalom, Antique.

“Dagul” was wanted on two counts of rape.

The operation was spearheaded by the San Remigio Municipal Police Station and the Intelligence Unit of the Antique Police Provincial Office.

Simultaneously, another operation led to the arrest of “Joque”, a 34-year-old man also hailing from Barangay Sinundolan.

Ranked as Antique’s third most wanted, he was likewise detained on charges of rape.

Both arrests followed the issuance of warrants by Presiding Judge Jojo Cruz Cruzat of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 11, San Jose, Antique.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, the regional police director, commended the collaborative effort between the police and the local community which facilitated the arrests.

“The community’s active participation by sharing vital information has been instrumental in our success,” said Wanky.

He further encouraged public cooperation with law enforcement by reporting illegal activities, assuring that such cooperation remains confidential.

The suspects are now in police custody, undergoing documentation processes before their subsequent legal proceedings./PN
