Top WV spikers lead Superliga

MANILA – Western Visayas-based spikers are set to spearhead the Philippine Superliga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup which will be held until May 18 at the Capitol Beach Front in Lingayen, Pangasinan.

Negrense Bernadeth Pons will carry the fight for the defending champions Petron Blaze Spikers along with Floremel Rodriguez who takes over the spot of University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses star Cherry Rondina.

Bacolodnon Patty Jane Orendain and Ilongga Fiola Ceballos will banner the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers while IIongga Fritz Gallenero teams up with Michelle Morente for F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.

Another Western Visayas-based pair are Ilonggas Jackie Estoquia and Dhanylaine Demontaño who will suit up for the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors-Splendido.

Also competing are former NCAA MVP Gretchel Soltones and Shola Alvarez for the PLDT Home Fibr A Power Hitters while Shiela Pineda and Jinggay Bangad will play for the other Lifesavers team.

Also part of the 15-team women’s field are Pangasinan Teams A and B, Cignal Teams A and B, Sta. Lucia Aquamira, PLDT Home Fibr B, Petron-UST, Generika-Ayala B and UVC A and B.

In the men’s side, Philippine Army and Philippine National Police will test the mettle of Pangasinan, Cignal, Volleyball Never Stops, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Perpetual and Foton./PN
