AKLAN – A 43-year-old tour guide in Boracay Island was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Bantud, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Malay town.

Tagged as a street-level drug suspect, Gilbert Arabit, was caught after he handed over a plastic sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P17,000 on Monday night, June 17.

Joint operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU), Malay Municipal Police Station (MPS), Aklan Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit, and 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company seized a total of 12 plastic sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P204,000.

Police Captain Glen Soliman, chief of RPDEU, said the suspect was detained at the Malay MPS.

He is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
