CAPIZ – Nine farm sites in the province underwent a bio-physical characteristics assessment, profiling, mapping, and geotagging as part of the farm tourism development program of the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6.

These sites were:

* La Vie Food Products and Manufacturing in Barangay Malitbog, Tapaz

* Eddsring Integrated Farm in Barangay Dolores, Dumalag

* Capiz Ecology Park and Cultural Village in Barangay Nagba, Cuartero

* Gicalde Farm in Barangay Bangonbangon, Sigma

* Department of Agriculture – Capiz Research Outreach Station in Barangay Malapad Cogon, Sigma

* Martin’s Integrated Farm in Barangay Timpas, Panitan

* Capiz Chocolate Factory (Hacienda Libertad) – Capiz Cacao Industry Association (CCIA) in Barangay Cogon, Panitan

* DAD’s Farm in Barangay New Guia, Maayon, and

* Kapawa Integrated Farm in Barangay Solo, Pontevedra

According to the Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (PTCAO), “The activity is intended to put Capiz farm tourism sites and potential farm tourism sites on the map by providing accessible information about the sites on the digital platform.”

The DOT’s three-day data-gathering activity last Jan. 20 to 22 in the province was in partnership with the Panay Organic Producers Association (POPA).

POPA is an organization committed to promoting the practice of organic farming and the patronage of products by organic farmers on Panay Island.(PIA)/PN
