Tourists stranded due to ‘Rolly’

MALAY, Aklan – Tourists got stranded at the Caticlan port here due to Typhoon “Rolly” on Nov. 1.

Two flights from Manila arrived at the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport (Caticlan Airport) on Nov. 1, according to Malay acting mayor Floribar Bautista.

Caticlan Airport is the only airport of entry for tourists travelling by air to Boracay Island.

Those stranded – 104 passengers of Cebu Pacific and AirAsia – stayed overnight in pension houses and hotels in Barangay Caticlan since ferry services were not operating between mainland Malay and Boracay.

The tourists stuck in Barangay Caticlan were ferried out via Tabon Port Caticlan to Boracay Island on Monday morning, Nov. 2.

The typhoon spared Boracay and Malay from major damage./PN
