BACOLOD City – A municipal councilor in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental and his son tested positive for drug use, police said.
Jolomar Hilario and son Francis, a municipal government employee, took the test on Oct. 3. Casual worker Emilio Catague tested positive, too.
They will be subjected to confirmatory test at the crime laboratory in Camp Crame, the national police headquarters, in Manila, said Senior Inspector Alan Reloj, municipal police officer-in-charge.
Francis Hilario was assigned at the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, while Catague worked under the Municipal Agriculture Office.
They may face criminal and administrative charges, said Reloj.
According to Reloj, Mayor Magdaleno Peña — also a consultant for the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 18 — advised him to detain them at the police station’s custodial facility as disciplinary action.
They were among the 96 male municipal hall employees who had undergone a surprise drug test. They included traffic enforcers, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members and civil security personnel./PN
