Town hall loses cash, laptops

ILOILO City – Police have yet to identify and catch the robbers who barged into the municipal hall of New Lucena, Iloilo.

The local government lost cash and P60,000 worth of equipment, police said.

Agriculture office employee George Sumbilla reported the burglary to the police on Monday.

The culprits took P105 from the Treasurer’s Office, and two laptop computers worth P30,000 each and an undetermined amount of cash from the Accounting Office, municipal police chief Senior Inspector Felix Alianza said, citing initial investigation.

Alianza said the robbers entered via the Treasurer’s Office by destroying the window and fled via the main door.

Police have yet to review footage from security cameras in the building in a bid to identify the culprits.

“It appears the suspects were familiar with the building. They may have staged the burglary during the weekend,” said Alianza./PN
