ILOILO – To give way to the installation of girders on the flyover being constructed in Pavia town, a portion of the national highway in Barangay Aganan will be temporarily closed from Dec. 15 to 19.
“Ma-launch kita sang initial 40 girders covering five spans (of the flyover),” said Assistant Director Jose Al Fruto of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Region 6.
The closure covers particularly the Aganan Pavia Railway (near the Pavia mini-market) to the intersection from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. only.
However, Fruto noted that the intersection would be closed on Dec. 15 only.
Motorists are advised to take these alternative routes:

* left turn to Pavia (Carlitos) – Pavia plaza – Barangay Anilao – Barangay Tacas – Quintin Salas – Jaro plaza
* left turn to Pavia (Carlitos) – Pavia plaza – Barangay Anilao – Barangay Tacas – right turn Circumferential Road – Ungka flyover intersection – Jaro plaza
* Pavia – Barangay Jibao-an (Bangga Singko) – Mandurriao

* Taft Street, Santa Barbara – Barangay Agutayan – Barangay Cabugao Norte – Barangay Tigum and Pagsanga-an – Barangay Tacas – Quintin Salas – Jaro Plaza

Fruto is optimistic that the installation of girders will be completed in five days.
But these are just part of the 174 total girders to be installed, he said.
“Ara na ‘ta sa 55 percent complete,” said Fruto, citing their third quarter of 2022 target to complete the flyover.
The budget for the Aganan flyover, including road widening, detour repair and improvement of the bridge intersection, reached P802 million./PN
