ILOILO City – Two traffic auxiliaries in this city claimed an official of the Land Transportation Office Region 6 (LTO-6) committed a traffic violation in Barangay El-98, Jaro district yesterday.
Complainants Fritz Tacaisan and Jay Ralph Enojado tried to flag down a black Toyota Rush (with plate No. FAF-9988) for getting past a traffic light signaling “red” or stop around 9:30 a.m.
They were supposed to issue a temporary operator’s permit (TOP) to the driver but he did not stop his car, they claimed.
The vehicle driver was LTO-6 assistant director Arturo Apolinar, according to Tacaisan and Enojado.
The enforcers chased the Toyota Rush up to the regional office of the LTO in Barangay Tabuc Suba, Jaro.
Apolinar denied the traffic enforcers’ claim.
He said he crossed when the traffic light was still “yellow”, not red.
The LTO official added he refused to talk to the traffic enforcers along the road because he wanted discussions done in his office.
Apolinar said he was ready to face the complaints against him./PN
