‘Train to Busan’ sequel to hit cinemas soon

THE sequel to the 2016 South Korean zombie flick “Train To Busan” is finally hitting movie screens this 2020.

The film, which is titled “Peninsula” is set four years after the outbreak hit South Korea and will be featuring a new set of cast including Kang Dong Won, Kwon Hae Hyo, Lee Jung Hyun, Kim Min Jae, Go Kyo Hwan, Kim Do Yoon, Lee Re, and Lee Ye Won.

While “Peninsula” is billed as a sequel to “Train to Busan,” Director Yeon Sang-ho cleared that it won’t be a follow-up to the story of the first movie which was about Seok-Woo (Gong Yoo), a father who takes on a dangerous journey with her daughter to Busan amidst the zombie outbreak. According to Sang-ho (as quoted by MovieWeb), the story of Peninsula will simply be set in the same universe as its predecessor.

The sequel’s plot will follow the story of Jung Suk, a former soldier who managed to escape overseas but is now tasked to return to the zombie-infested peninsula. Here, he meets a set of survivors who work with him to win their safety.

“Peninsula” hasn’t announced its official release date yet but fans are keeping their fingers crossed that it will happen soon. (Cosmo)
