ILOLO City – Transport terminal operators here were given 60 days to come up with site development plans for their facilities.

According to Atty. Jun Altura, legal counsel of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 6, the operators must specify the improvements they will be doing in sync with the city’s Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) that is set to be enforced by June 12.

The terminal operators expressed intention to seek the assistance of the City Engineer’s Office for their site development plans.

LTFRB, together with the city government’s Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) had a meeting on May 27 with the operators of five transport terminals located in barangays Ungka, Tagbak (both in Jaro district), Villa-Mohon (Arevalo district), Hibao-an (Mandurriao district), and Baldoza (La Paz district).

Among the noted deficiencies of the transport terminals were the lack of breastfeeding area for lactating mothers, lack of toilet for persons with disability (PWD), insufficient closed circuit television cameras, and partially paved parking areas.

Altura said the operators vowed to address their deficiencies.

Aside from the site development plan, the terminal operators must also come up with a traffic management plan before June 12 to ensure the smooth flow of vehicles entering and leaving their faciliies.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, LTFRB and the terminal operators will have another meeting, this time with Mayor Jerry Treñas./PN
