BORACAY – Authorities in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan arrested a travel agency coordinator in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday afternoon, September 17.
Police identified the drug suspect as 28-year-old Ryan Dela Peña, a resident of Barangay Igbong, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo and temporarily staying in Sitio Bulabog, Balabag, Malay town.
The suspect allegedly handed a transparent heat-sealed plastic sachet containing the white crystalline substance to a poseur buyer for P30,100 during the anti-illegal drug operation in Sitio Cagban, Barangay Manoc-manoc.
Officers of the Malay Municipal Police Station also seized six plastic sachets of suspected shabu.
“Hindi sa akun ang mga druga. Wala ko ga-gamit sang druga. Bag-o lang ko sa trabaho kag tatlo kabulan pa lang ko Boracay,” the suspect said.
The items were marked and inventoried at the place of arrest and in the presence of a barangay official, Department of Justice and media representatives.
Captain Romnick Cleine Tayawa said the suspect had been under surveillance for two months due to his involvement in illegal drug activities.
“Doon sa mainland Malay ang unang transaksyon ngunit lumipat ang buy-bust natin sa isla,” Tayawa added.
The suspect is now under police custody. He is facing charges for violation of Section 5 (sale of dangerous drugs) and Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs of 2002./PN
