ROXAS City – Gov. Esteban Evan Contreras warned Capiz-bound travelers against faking the negative test results of their tests for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The provincial government requires people entering Capiz from outside Western Visayas to undergo reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test (RT-PCR) test with negative result for COVID-17 not more than 72 hours before their trip.

Contreras cited reports in other places about of inbound travelers submitting falsified negative RT-PCR test results.

Falsification of documents is a felony punishable under the Revised Penal Code, said the governor.

It carries the penalty of imprisonment and a fine, he added.

“Falsifying one’s RT-PCR test result is not only illegal but also irresponsible as it puts at risk other people’s health,” said Contreras.

The RT-PCR test, he added, is a mechanism to keep COVID-19 out of Capiz.

“I appeal for the understanding of all inbound travellers. Please comply with this requirement. This is for the safety and security of your families as well as ours,” said Contreras./PN
