BACOLOD City – Another tourist destination in this city – the Bacolod Tree and Eco Park – will soon rise in Barangay Alangilan here.

The project’s groundbreaking was held yesterday, September 4.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said a P500-million budget is needed for the completion of the project located in the 8.7-hectare city government-owned lot.

The city government has allocated P47 million for the tree park which was sourced from its P4.4-billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines, for the initial implementation of the project.

This will only cover the construction of the entrance, picnic area, and glamping area.

“The estimated budget is about P500 million. We are only at 10 percent of the plan,” Mayor Benitez said.

The city mayor added that he is lobbying with the Department of Tourism (DOT) to assist the local government in funding the master plan.

The Bacolod Tree and Eco Park will feature numerous amenities which the public can enjoy such as a jogging/walking trail, airsoft arena, children’s playground, reception hall, lagoon (cottage and gazebo), and a picnic grove, among many others.

It will serve as a place for recreation which the public can freely visit to spend time together with family and friends.

“The facility will be managed by the city government. We will create an economic enterprise to manage this because there will be charges to be imposed, but affordable for the maintenance of the park,” Mayor Benitez said./PN
