ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas of this southern city and Bacolod City’s Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez shared the No. 1 spot as top performing city mayors in Western Visayas, based on the RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD) survey.
Both were in “statistical tie” wherein Treñas got a performance rating of 82.9 percent while Benitez was rated 83.7 percent.
“Nalipay man ako nga kita man sang iban ang gina-obra ta diri para sa mga Ilonggos,” Treñas reacted.
He emphasized the city government’s efforts are geared towards making Iloilo City a level-up metropolis through the “WHEELS” program for inclusive development and good governance.
“WHEELS” is the Treñas administration’s roadmap for city development and refers to Welfare, Health and sanitation, Education, Environmental management, Livelihood, and Sustainability.
RPMD’s WV City Mayors survey is a component of the “Boses ng Bayan” national survey, a comprehensive evaluation of the performance of public officials based on face-to-face interviews with a total of 10,000 adult respondents, with a sampling error margin of +/-1 percent
Roxas City’s Mayor Ronnie Dadivas came in second with 80.1 percent rating.
Also included on the top 5 were Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez of Victorias City with 77.5 percent No. 3), Mayor Melecio Yap Jr. of Escalante City (73.2 percent, No. 4) and Mayor Maria Gina Lizares of Sipalay City (71.4 percent, No. 5).
Other city mayors and their respective performance ratings are the following: Benjie Miranda of Kabankalan City (69.1 percent); Rex Jalando-on of La Carlota City (67.5 percent), Salvador Escalante Jr. of Cadiz City (67.2 percent), Neil Lizares of Talisay City (65.8 percent), Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan City (65.4 percent), Rene Gustilo of San Carlos City (62.5 percent), Stephen Palmares of Passi City (60.3 percent), Nicholas Yulo of Bago City (58.1 percent), Joedith Gallego of Silay City (56.8 percent), and Narciso Javelosa Jr. of Sagay City (54.9 percent).
