ILOILO City – From their current P400 daily wage, city government job hires may be getting P500 beginning next year.

Mayor Jerry Treñas announced he had started looking for funds for the increase in the job hires’ pay.

While waiting for the pay hike, help make the city a better place, he told the job hires after yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony in front of city hall.

The mayor recently met with the personnel – mostly job hires – of the Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) and urged them to properly enforce traffic rules and regulations.

“Sa aton mga traffic aides kag police auxiliary, palihog obra gid sang insakto. Indi kamo magkakulba nga dakpon ang mga nagalapas sa aton polisiya kag laye,” said Treñas.

The PSTMO has 293 traffic aides and 100 police auxiliaries.

Treñas vowed to convert the compensation of the traffic aides from the current honorarium to a daily wage just like those of the job hires.

The city mayor distributed caps and reflectorized vests to the traffic aides.

He would soon be providing them with raincoats, the mayor added.

“Kinahanglan ko man kamo atipanon sang maayo para mangin maayo man ang inyo pagserbisyo sa publiko,” he stressed.

The PSTMO also oversees the operation of the Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures, the body leading the clearing of roads and sidewalks of obstructions./PN
