ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas is in favor of implementing dress code for tricycle and taxi drivers in this city.
The Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) has recently proposed the Tricycle Route Plan (TRP). Under the proposed tricycle guidelines, PSTMO said drivers must not wear slippers, sando or shorts, and should wear shoes when driving.
“Ang sando kag sapatos iya gid na ya [guidelines] sang LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board) kay ti kon naga-drive ka nga naga-tsinelas ka magtapak ka sa gasolinador, sa brake basi bala masulod ang imo tsinelas. Kag indi lang na para sa driver sang tricycle or PUJ, asta na sa [private vehicle owners] nga gadala,” Treñas said.
The city mayor stressed the dress code implementation is a part of the guidelines and required by the LTFRB.
“Kabalo kamo indi kamo pwede ka tsinelas kung mag-drive kamo kay ti that’s part of the rules. Kung driver ka masunod kita sang rules nga ginabutang man sang LTFRB,” he added.
Presentable-looking drivers could also help the city’s tourism promotion.
“Kung ga-drive ka kag may mga bisita sa city or even para sa riding public man sang imo community, daw nami man itsura mo,” the city mayor emphasized.
Treñas is further eyeing seminars for tricycle and taxi drivers to teach them how to respond properly to their passengers especially the queries of those new or visiting the city.
“May programa pa ta na nga ginaplano together with our tourism office nga i-seminar ta ang aton nga taxi drivers kag tricycle drivers, ginaplastar naton ina,” he said./PN
