ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry P. Treñas ordered Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) director, Police Colonel Leo Batiles, to ensure the presence of policemen in areas where people converge.
Two groups of youngsters figured in a rumble around 4:20 a.m. yesterday on the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) in Mandurriao district.
“The PNP is hereby instructed to investigate the matter and file necessary charges against those concerned,” Treñas added.
Police Major Rey Sumagaysay, chief of the Mandurriao police station, told Panay News there were arguments between the two groups prior to the incident.
“Mga around 4:20 ini sang aga, inugpuli gid sang aton mga customers sa mga ilimnan from Diversion. Prior sa insidente may something nga daw nag sign-sign kuno kag may gamay nga indi pag-intindihanay,” said Sumagaysay.
He added that five individuals were on board a pickup when they were attacked by youngsters from the street.
“Daw na-tripinngan gid man ang mga biktima. Sakay sila sa ila salakyan pakadto sa City Proper. Pero ongoing pa gid ang investigation kag verification namon diri sa ila identity kay basi may mga minors nga naka-intra,” the police chief added.
Sumagaysay said they will secure the area to avoid similar incidents.
“Doblehon pa gid namon ang amon police presence. Ma-deploy pa gid kami kag may palaabuton man kita nga deployment. Makaya ta ‘ni kag tinguhaan gid nga maglinong. Kun pwede lang ma-zero incidents ang syudad sang Iloilo subong nga nagahilapit ang Dinagyang,” said Sumagaysay./PN
