MANILA – Cong. Jerry Treñas has been appointed Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan’s (PDP-Laban) “council president” for Iloilo City.
Treñas’ appointment letter was signed by PDP-Laban national president Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III, national secretary general House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, and vice chairman Energy secretary Alfonso Cusi on April 25.
As PDP-Laban council president of Iloilo City, Treñas is tasked to accomplish the following:
* operationalize and give flesh to the party’s constitution
* lead and direct the party and its members to make the “culture shift” towards party-based politics and promote positive change towards achieving a better quality of life for every Filipino
* purse local programs to institutionalize the party’s platforms to fight illegal drugs, corruption, criminality and terrorism
* report to the PDP-Laban national headquarters the names of all members in the province and the organization of chapters and councils at various levels
* start preparation for the 2019 elections
* execute and implement all party directives and programs within its jurisdiction the Executive Committee shall order and entrust.
Treñas told Panay News he was “honored” by the appointment.
“I will endeavor to recruit more members, propagate federalism and promote the ideals, policies and programs of the party in Iloilo City,” the congressman who previously belonged to the Liberal Party.
Treñas transferred to PDP-Laban in 2016 weeks after President Rodrigo Duterte won the election./PN
