ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry P. Treñas warned again offices and departments at the city hall over the delayed salaries of the job hires and casual employees.
The city mayor tasked Assistant City Administrator Butch Panaguiton to monitor the departments and report to him those that continue to have delays in the payment of salaries of the casuals.
“In case of inexcusable delay, proper action will be taken after due investigation and recommendation made by the assistant city administrator,” said Treñas.
He added the department heads or executive assistants whose job hires or casuals continue to have delayed salaries will explain to him in writing the reasons for the delay.
The submission of documents required by the city accountant is not a sufficient reason for any delay, he stressed.
“Nagbalik-balik ang papel, daw may gina-areglar sa accounting. Ti daw na-areglar naman to,” said Treñas.
He explained that the processing of the documents for the salaries takes time especially that there are requirements needed to be complied as per guidelines by the Commission Audit (COA). One is the attendance.
“Ang sweldo bala na, tapuson gid na sa end of the month. Indi kita ya ka process sang sweldo kon waay pa natapos. Unlike sa (private companies) pagka-end of the month, sweldo gid. Ini ya tapuson gid kay may mga requirement ang COA,” said Treñas.
Meanwhile, the city mayor suggested to job hires who have hard time waiting for their salaries to transfer to private companies so they can have faster release of salaries.
“Sa mga job hire nga nabudlayan bala, pangita na lang kamo obra sa private nga offices kay mas madasig ang swelduhanay,” he said.
The city hall job hires previously complained about their delayed salaries. Some city hall officials taking advantage of the job hires through money lending with illegal conditions surfaced thereafter./PN
