ILOILO City – Mayor Jerry Treñas urged the public to refrain from posting negative content on social media about the just-concluded Dinagyang Festival, highlighting the importance of maintaining the event’s positive and festive spirit.
“As we celebrate Dinagyang, a time for faith, joy, and unity, we remind everyone that the City Government of Iloilo does not tolerate negative postings,” Treñas said.
He discouraged the sharing of violent or inappropriate content and encouraged Ilonggos to promote uplifting stories that capture the essence of the festival.
The mayor’s appeal followed a viral TikTok video of singer Juan Karlos Labajo’s Jan. 24 performance in Mandurriao district.
Labajo modified the explicit lyrics of his 2023 hit song “Ere.” Instead of singing, “Oh di ba? Nakakapu***g-**a,” he replaced it with “Oh di ba? Nakaka-yu****ta,” a Spanish term commonly used as an indignant expression in Hiligaynon.
Treñas stressed that Dinagyang is a celebration of Iloilo’s culture, hospitality, and unity, urging everyone to exercise caution and responsibility when using social media to protect the festival’s positive image.

The mayor expressed gratitude to the police, augmentation forces, and Green Guards for maintaining order, as well as first responders for their swift assistance during emergencies.
