Trending Capital: Back-to-school season once again

By Raymart Escopel

Summer vacation is officially over! This means the two-month stress-free break from school has ended. The time has come for students to go back and face their daily routines in school.

June marks the official start of classes in the Philippines. Most students usually go on a shopping spree for school supplies, uniforms and a new pair of shoes to welcome a new academic year.

Students flee to their respective schools and fall in a long line to have themselves be officially called ‘newly-enrolled.’

A first day at school pretty much sums up a mix of emotions. The freshmen are usually the victims of anxiety attacks and school gags. They are also the most excited in terms of meeting new set of people who will eventually be a part of the new stage in their life.

The back-to-school season however does not concern the students alone.

The most affected during this time of the year are the parents who pay the tuition fees. The fear of tuition fee hikes on the tertiary level is every parent’s concern – all for the name of quality education.

It is inevitable that a number of schools whether public or private are hiking up their fees for an improved school services and facilities.

As cliché as it may seem but I agree to the saying “Education is the key to success.” I agree that true knowledge is the best investment one should take a leap. Education is indeed a treasure that can never ever be taken away from us.

Therefore, it is just right that we invest time, effort and money for a realization of a dream in the future./PN
