ILOILO City – Tribu Baklud of Passi National High School was declared champion in the tribes competition of the 2019 Pintados de Pasi Festival.
It got the crown by besting five other tribes that joined the competition held on Saturday.
Tribu Baklud also got several special awards, such as Best in Choreography, Best in Choreographer, Best in Props and Set Design, Best in Discipline, Best in Music, and Best in Performance.
Tribu Pulakan came in second place. It also got the Best in Costume award.
Tribu Pasi, meanwhile, landed in third place.
Members of the six competing tribes – including Tribu Pula-pula, Tribu Salong and Tribu Hamungaya – were from 51 barangays in Passi City clustered by schools.
Municipal Tourism Officer Gina Palmares said this year’s Pintados de Pasi is grander as the locality also celebrates its 21st year as a city.
The theme this year is “Passinhon, Padayon nga Maghiri-ugyon sa Mainuswagon nga Paraabuton.”
Palmares said the festival – which highlights the Passinhon tradition – improves every year.
She added that the celebration serves as a cultural symbol for the component city.
Pintados de Pasi was held from March 9 to March 23. It featured a parade of adorned carabaos, Binibining Pintados 2019 and an entertainment show, among others./PN
