Tricycle driver stabbed for refusing ‘shabu’

BACOLOD City – For refusing to take the suspected shabu offered to him, a tricycle driver was stabbed in Hacienda San Roque, Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental.

The 45-year-old Renato Magquilat, a resident of the said place, sustained wounds on his back and left elbow. He was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in this city for proper treatment.

Hinigaran police identified the suspect as Ryan Garcia, 43, and also a resident of the aforementioned barangay.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, chief of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station (MPS), Garcia offered the illegal drugs to his friend but the latter did not take it, prompting the suspect to stab him.

Corpuz said Garcia’s name is on the drug watchlist of the station due to his illegal activities.

The suspect was detained at the Hinigaran MPS. He is facing frustrated homicide charges./PN
