ILOILO City – Despite trying to evade arrest, a tricycle driver who wielded a gun still landed in jail, police said.
John Rey Barretto was caught after police officers manning a checkpoint in Barangay San Lucas, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo chased him past 12 midnight on Thursday.
While being chased, Barretto allegedly threw a 12-gauge shotgun to a grassy area in the village.
Barretto was detained in the lockup cell of the Barotac Viejo police station at around 12:21 a.m.
He was facing charges for violation of the election gun ban and Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act./PN
