KALIBO, Aklan – A “colorum” tricycle driver and surrenderee of the Philippine National Police’s “Oplan Tokhang” was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in this capital town.

The 27-year-old Julyfer Albacino was caught near a chapel in Sition Libtong, Barangay Estancia around 9 p.m. on Sept. 1, police said.

Albacino is a native of Barangay Tambuan, Malinao, Aklan who is residing in Barangay New Buswang in Kalibo.

Police said he sold two sachets of suspected shabu for P4,000 to an undercover officer.

Though having admitted that he had used illegal drugs, Albacino said the recovered suspected drugs from him were “planted.”

Kanina lang ako nagbiyahe ng tricycle. Inarkila ako at agad dinumog pagdating namin dito sa Libtong. Hindi naman sa akin ang nakuhang droga at pera – planted lahat,” he stressed.

Albacino had been under surveillance of the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit headed by Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade for more than three months before he was arrested.

Police also confiscated Albacino’s wallet and cellphone.

Albacino, detained in the lockup cell of the Kalibo municipal police station, was facing charges for violation of Section 5 (sale) of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
