Trike driver yields guns, ammo

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A tricycle driver was arrested in Sitio Pinaypayan, Barangay Lanot, Roxas City, Capiz.

Ronnie Cervales, 59 and a resident of the place, was served with a search warrant at 5:48 p.m. on Thursday, June 8.

Police found a .38 revolver with 19 live ammunition, another .38 revolver with a wooden handle with six live ammunition, six empty cartridges, nine live ammunition of a .22 revolver and four holsters.

The search warrant was issued on June 8 by Judge Esperanza Isabel Poco-Deslate of the Regional Trial Court-Branch 19 in Roxas City.

Roxas City Police commander Lieutenant Colonel Francis Paguia, in an interview with iFM Roxas, said Cervales’ neighbors complained that he often publicly brandished his firearm.

Cervales will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition. He is currently in the custody of the Roxas City police./PN
