BACOLOD City – The passenger was not as lucky as the driver when the tricycle they were riding bumped into a cargo truck in a curve on the national highway in Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The 39-year-old Analiza Padorna was killed while the 28-year-old Antonio Coyagbo was injured, a police report showed.
Padorna and Coyagbo were both residents of Barangay Inayawan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, police said.
According to investigators, the northbound tricycle was navigating the national road around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday when the southbound truck crashed against it.
Padorna sustained head and body injuries and was rushed to the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City where she died.
Coyagbo, who was also injured, was brought to the same hospital where he was currently under treatment.
The 44-year-old truck driver Edgar Requinto of Barangay Pantao, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, on the other hand, was detained at the Kabankalan City police station lockup facility./PN
