BACOLOD City – A Canter truck carrying 100 gasoline tanks caught fire yesterday along the national highway in Hacienda Omapog, Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. A helper was killed while the driver was hospitalized.
Fire Officer 1 Gerald Bugtong, Cadiz City fire station arson investigator, said the fatality was only identified as “Romnick,” a resident of Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
His body was beyond recognition, said Bugtong.
Meanwhile, 25-year-old driver, John Vincent Recto of Escalante City, Negros Occidental was recuperating at the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic.
The incident happened around 2:35 a.m.
The vehicle was reportedly bound for Sagay.
According to Bugtong, estimated damage reached P370,000.
The Bureau of Fire Protection was investigating the incident./PN
