BACOLOD City – Two were killed and six others were injured after the cargo truck they were riding fell off a bridge connecting Barangay Banquerohan and Barangay Tinampaan in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Police identified the fatalities as 50-year-old Eric Escala and 52-year-old Nicolas Pagunsan – all residents of Barangay Himogaan Baybay, Sagay City, police said. They sustained head and body injuries.
Meanwhile, injured were 30-year-old truck driver Lito Tributante of Barangay Daga, Cadiz City; Vicente Albos, 54; Paz Alpay, 59; Rolly Sinogbohan, 39; Edmar De la Pena, 44; and Jake Pasilan, 24. They also got head and body injuries.
According to police investigators, the victims were navigating the road when the truck’s brake malfunctioned around 7 a.m. on March 3.
They were all rushed to the Cadiz City Emergency Clinic where the attending physician declared Escala and Pagunsan “dead on arrival.”/PN
