ILOILO City – A 52-year-old court employee died. A truck hit him in Barrio Calinog in Calinog Iloilo.
Gil Villanueva, a resident of Barangay Canabajan, Calinog, worked at the Municipal Trial Court in Cities’ (MTCC) subpoena section. He died of severe head injuries.
The vehicular accident happened around 5 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, Calinog police chief.
Villanueva was on his way home driving a motorcycle. He hit a dog that suddenly crossed the street.
“Villanueva was thrown off his motorcycle and landed on the other side of the road. A truck was passing by that side of the road and unfortunately hit him,” said Bermejo.
The truck driver, Nerio Castillejo, 52, of Barangay Libot, Calinog surrendered to the police.
Castillejo said he tried to evade Villanueva.
A case of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide is being readied against the truck driver./PN
