BACOLOD City – A boy was killed and two others were injured when the pedicab they were riding crashed against a cargo truck in Barangay Su-ay, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
The 13-year-old resident of the place died of head and body injuries, a police report showed. The other two, a 12-year-old resident and a 14-year old of Barangay Andulauan, Ilog were also hurt. They are recuperating in a hospital in Bacolod City.
According to police investigators, the victims – passengers of a pedicab – were crossing the road when the cargo truck driven by 41-year-old Jovannie Tamises of Barangay Talacdan, Cauayan accidentally hit them.
The boy was rushed to the Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City where the attending physician declared him as “dead on arrival.”
Tamises, meanwhile, surrendered and was detained in the lockup cell of the Himamaylan City police station, facing charges./PN
