Truck leaves trail of spilled-over waste along BANOCEH

BACOLOD City – The foul smell along the portion of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BANOCEH) here discouraged motorists from traversing the newly constructed road over the weekend.

According to the investigation of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) -Bacolod City Engineering District, a truck hauling chicken waste for use as fertilizer accidentally broke its rear lock early Saturday morning, March 8.

This resulted in a trail of spilled-over waste along BANOCEH pavement near the Pequinto bridge, Barangay Vista Alegre here.

Almost a kilometer of the national road had been covered by the waste, said DPWH-Bacolod City district engineer Leah Jamero.

Following this, the city government immediately provided a mini backhoe to scrape off and load the foul-smelling litter to the truck that came over to retrieve the waste material.

DPWH crew also helped sweep and clean the area.

Additionally, a fire truck was requested to flush the pavement to eliminate the foul smell, after which vehicles continued to pass by, Jamero said./PN
