BACOLOD City – A truck ran over a motorcycle along Lacson Street in Barangay Banago on Saturday, April 15.
Motorcycle driver John Patrick Biantan was declared “dead on the spot” by responding paramedics from the Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office. He was a resident of Barangay Zone 7, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
According to the initial police investigation, the truck driven by Ramil Saltillo tried to execute a left turn. Biantan, who was allegedly driving fast, hit the truck’s rear portion, and the truck subsequently ran over the victim.
Saltillo surrendered to the police and issued an apology to the victim’s family, said Police Staff Sergeant Richard Dema-ala of the Bacolod City Police Station 3.
The victim’s family, meanwhile, expressed their intention to press charges./PN
