Tubid replaces Devance in All-Star Visayas team

Ilonggo Ronald Tubid is set to go back to Columbian Dyip after San Miguel Beermen’s one-on-one trade consummated on late Monday afternoon.

RONALD Tubid of Columbian Dyip has been tapped to play for the PBA Visayas All-Star team that will face Gilas Pilipinas in the Visayas leg of the 2018 PBA All-Star Games on May 27 at the University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City.

Tubid, a native of Iloilo City, will substitute forward Joe Devance of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings. The native of Escalante City, Negros Occidental is nursing a knee injury.

This will be the ninth All-Star appearance and second consecutive year for the 36-year-old Tubid after suiting up during the Cebu edition of the yearly PBA event last year.

Before he plays in Iloilo, Tubid will also make an appearance in the Luzon leg of the PBA All-Star Games on May 25 in Batangas City where he is a participant in the 3-point shootout.

Joining Tubid in the PBA Visayas All-Star squad are fellow Ilonggos Kiefer Ravena, Emman Monfort and Jericho Cruz and Negrenses James Yap and Jeffrei Chan.

Also part of the Visayas squad that Chito Victolero will coach are June Mar Fajardo, Gregory Slaughter, Paul Asi Taulava, Joseph Quinahan, Terrence Romeo, and Chris Ross.

In the Gilas Pilipinas squad are Japeth Aguilar, Jeth Troy Rosario, Carl Bryan Cruz, Rey Mark Belo, Gabe Norwood, Matthew Wright, Allein Maliksi, Roger Pogoy, Jiovani Jalalon, Jayson Castro, and Calvin Abueva./PN
